Writing Walking Retreat in Windjana Gorge, the Kimberleys

Monday June 4 - Saturday 9 June 2012

Wandjina GorgeSpend a week writing, walking and swagging it on the banks of the historic Windjana Gorge. Surounded by this ancient landscape beneath the wide blue sky and touched by the play of light and rock formations, you will naturally connect deeply with yourself, your story, where you have come from and who you are now.

A variety of creative approaches are given that allows you to enter your story. You don't need to call yourself “ a writer.” You will discover the delight of putting pen to paper. Periods of writing and walking provide the rhythm and discipline to extend your connection to the inner and out landscape. Days will be relaxed with easy walks to and from the established bush camp.

Both the walks and bush camp will be led by Rory Dreyer of Adventure Wild. He has many years experience of the Kimberleys, and deep respect for Aboriginal culture and country.

Windjana Gorge is an area in the Kimberleys of great cultural importance to the local Bunuba people who once lived there, and was the base for Jandamurra, the Indigenous warrior.

I am full and I am spacious, I am satiated and fresh,
I have de-cluttered my being and filled with stones from the river bed, gems of insights from others and strands of my own experience to examine,
-  Liz 2011 (Central Australia)
