Week-long Writing/Walking Retreat in Central Australia 2012
You and the Desert

Location: Finke River outside Alice Springs
Dates: Sunday  26 - Friday 31 August 2012

Cradled by the vast landscape of Central Australia, spend a week writing, walking and swagging it on the banks of the Finke River..

In this ancient land beneath the wide blue sky and touched by the play of light and desert colour, you'll naturally connect more deeply with yourself and your story -- where you've come from, who you are now and your core values and purpose. You don't need to be a writer; as well as writing prompts you'll be given a variety of creative approaches to enter your story.

Periods of walking and writing provide the rhythm and discipline to extend your connection to the inner and outer landscape.

Days will be relaxed with easy walks to and from the established bush camp. The camp and walks  will be led by Phil Taylor from Wayoutback Desert Safaris. They have many years experience of Central Australia, and deep respect for Aboriginal culture and country.

The experience not only unplugged a natural flow of creative expression, but gave me confidence. This is what I mean by the power of being listened to, taken seriously and genuinely appreciated. It has an effect, a strong effect. This is the heart of Storyworks.

I am taking back immense renewal, looseness, inspiration and freshness in my writing: a sense of flow and power. Also a sense of expansion and encouragement to zoom in close when necessary and a new relishing of texture. I've also found the sharp clear language and rhythms that I was seeking.

Cost: Early bird fee $1770 to be paid in full by 15 June.
Full fee $1870 due by 29 June.
Deposit: $330 required on enrolment.
Cost includes: Pick up from Alice Springs accommodation, course facilitation, all camp provisions, food,drinks, guided walks (flights and accommodation in Alice Springs are not included.)
